Worship Style & Music
Forest Hill is big enough to offer a variety of worship, education, mission and fellowship programs, but small enough to offer a close community to our members and friends. Our services are a relaxed blend of tradition and contemporary worship styles designed to challenge your thinking, spur your spiritual growth, and nudge you to respond. This congregation loves to sing. We sing from hymnals, not video screens, using actual music, not just the words.

The music is diverse, varied, and excellent with an ever-changing repertoire of the best in scared music – from classical to contemporary. Sermons
You’ll hear exceptional sermons from our pastor Dr. John Lentz, who – with humor, enthusiasm, and grace – offers ways to apply scripture to life’s daily challenges.

Each month we also have guest speakers, including outstanding pastors from within our FHC faith family and beyond.

Together, they each touch our hearts, enliven our spirits, spur us to action, and instill in us the hope and courage to face these complex and often chaotic times.

You’ll see people of all ages – from infants to great-grandparents – dressed in jeans and T–shirts or coats and ties and everything in between. The congregation includes students and scientists, actors and authors, weavers, waitresses, professors, painters, bankers and bookkeepers.

Some live nearby – in Cleveland Heights, East Cleveland, and University Circle. Some live farther away – in Lyndhurst, Mayfield, Richmond, Shaker, Highland Heights and Willoughby. Still, others travel from as far away as Aurora, Bainbridge, Lakewood, Mentor, Solon, and even Sagamore Hills and Painesville.

But whatever our address, age, gender or skin color, we share a desire to know and connect with God, the world, and each other.

Guests are not asked to stand to introduce themselves, but during the service, everyone is asked to add their names to a registration pad as it is passed up and down the pew. This helps all of us get to know one another and greet each other by name.

Parking
If you park on either Monticello or Lee, you can use the church’s front doors to enter the back of the sanctuary, where ushers can help you find a seat and answer questions.

Behind the church, a large parking lot is accessible from Lee Road and Monticello Blvd. If you park in our lot, use the doors under the covered drop-off entrance closest to Lee Rd. Follow along a lengthy hallway at the end of which Greeters can guide you to the Sanctuary and other locations, including the Christian Education wing if you have kids.

Building Accessibility
Through the years we have updated our 60-year-old, multi-level building to make it accessible to those who may be mobility-challenged. Outside curbs have been eliminated and automatic door openers are installed. A ramp parallels the stairs between our Sanctuary and the Fellowship Hall wing. A chair lift accesses each of three levels in the Education wing and a unisex, wheelchair-accessible bathroom is open to the Sanctuary Level and the chair lift. 

Wheelchair access to the building is found most easily through the doors off the parking lot.

This summer, children and youth of all ages join their families for 10am outdoor worship. There are activities for little ones in a family area on the lawn. On rainy Sunday mornings when we worship in the sanctuary, childcare is available for children, ages birth to 6 years, in Rooms 201/203.
